Training will also be provided in new evidence-based treatments for clinical perfectionism. The symposium will emphasize the importance of case formulation and core treatment principles that cut across anxiety-disorders, including obsessive compulsive disorder, panic disorder, posttraumatic stress disorder, social anxiety disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, specific phobias, and related problems.
Participants will learn about well-established approaches to treatment, such as cognitive-behavioral and pharmacological interventions, as well as new and emerging psychological treatments (e.g., mindfulness and acceptance-based strategies) and experimental biomedical treatments (e.g., deep brain stimulation, d-cycloserine). Strategies for dealing with treatment resistance, such as motivational interviewing, will be presented, as will strategies for dealing with complex cases and comorbidity.
